THE SINNER - TITLE SEQUENCE

A concept for the title sequence for Antonio Campos ‘The Sinner’.
‘The Sinner’ follows a detective who tries to understand why a woman committed a horrific murder. He breaks down her past and evaluates her memories to eventually find out why she became, ‘The Sinner’.

With this concept in mind, the title sequence breaks down the title ‘The Sinner’, into its individual letters, using each letter as the visual graphic. Representing the idea of the detective breaking down Coras past and memories to figure out the final picture.

Using shadow and light to create the abstract letters, links to the concept of memory and reality, past and present, and bad and good. Ive used simple liner shapes that enter the screen, which cast shadows that will eventually revel the individual letter form. The liner forms are representative of the different paths the detective went down to figure out each memory.
